In addition to completing the courses and acquired qualifications, we need a few skills to run a beauty business successfully. One of the most essential skills is confidence in meeting new people. When running a beauty business we should have a friendly character, open and sympathetic. Our attitude towards clients is often decisive whether the client will use our services or return to our salon so I will put it as the first very important personal skill.
Another will be passion – passion for our work and learning. In my opinion, a natural passion for beauty topics, searching for new products, following new trends, learning new skills is essential. Working in our industry is learning every day. Working with passion will be a pleasure for us and we will never feel that we are working. Our clients will also feel our commitment and love for our work, which will have a positive impact on our business. Investment in development is the best investment in our industry.
We should also be good listeners. Starting from consultation with the client, where our task is to understand the client’s needs, to carry out a good treatment in accordance with them, to listen to clients’ secrets, stories and problems. Our clients trust us. You are the person who will often say much more than anyone else.
Creativity is also a very important feature and the ability to advise the client well. You will be your client’s advisor in what you think may look good and whatnot. At this stage, we show our professionalism and knowledge.
Working in our industry requires continuous training, learning and investment in your knowledge. It is also physical work – often long hours of standing or sitting in one position.
